LaMarcus Aldridge is reportedly considering resuming his NBA career after being forced to retire last season due to heart concerns.
According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, Aldridge is weighing his options and expected to meet with some teams this month. He would need to be medically cleared before signing a contract.
Aldridge, 36, signed with the Brooklyn Nets in late March after a buyout from the San Antonio Spurs. But in mid-April, after only five games with Brooklyn, he announced his retirement due to an irregular heartbeat.
“For 15 years, I’ve put basketball first, and now, it is time to put my health and family first,” he wrote in a statement at the time.
The five-time all-NBA player has appeared in 1,029 career games over 15 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, Spurs and Nets.
A six-foot-11 power forward, Aldridge could provide championship experience to a number of teams if he is able to return, even if his offensive production took a dip last season. While limited to only 26 games, Aldridge averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, which were the lowest totals since his rookie season.
