LaMarcus Aldridge will reportedly sign a one-year, veteran's minimum deal with the Brooklyn Nets, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Aldridge, whose contract with the San Antonio Spurs was bought out on Thursday after both parties mutually agreed to part ways, was believed to be considering several possible free-agent destinations. Multiple contending teams were reportedly on his shortlist, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.
In the end, the 35-year-old will join a Nets team that had already added Blake Griffin through the buyout market and -- with its star trio of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving -- appears poised to contend for an NBA title this year.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Nets' plan is to have Aldridge play the majority of his minutes at the centre position. Throughout his San Antonio tenure, which began in the 2015-16 season, he often oscillated between being a centre and power forward.
Aldridge is averaging 25.9 minutes, 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 21 games this season.
