Things could be going better for the Philadelphia 76ers.
After a fourth straight loss on Monday night that dropped the team's record to a disappointing 2-11, veteran guard and former Toronto Raptor Kyle Lowry called a team meeting.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tuesday that during that meeting, guard Tyrese Maxey challenged the team's superstar, Joel Embiid, about being late "for everything." Maxey was reportedly concerned with how Embiid's tardiness was impacting other players and the coaching staff.
Charania added that his sources have told him that Maxey and Embiid have a close friendship and a history of holding each other accountable.
"Tyrese loves Big Fella, but this is the elephant in the room," a person involved in the meeting told Charania.
Embiid reportedly was receptive to the messages sent in the meeting, but also admitted to sometimes being confused by what the 76ers are attempting to execute on the court.
Maxey, who won the NBA's Most Improved Player award last season, has been out since Nov. 7 with a strained right hamstring. But Charnia reports that he is expected to return this week.
Maxey, Embiid and the team's star off-season acquisition, Paul George, have yet to play in a game together this season.
