The NBA Board of Governors is expected to approve the Play-In Tournament as a regular part of future seasons, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The tournament would run ahead of the playoffs, where the seventh through 10th seeded teams would play for the seventh and eighth playoff spots in the conference.
Despite using the Play-In Tournament the previous two seasons, Tuesday's approval would make the tournament a regular fixture in the NBA schedule.
