The Portland Trail Blazers are matching Matisse Thybulle’s three-year offer sheet from the Dallas Mavericks, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Thybulle, a restricted free agent, signed a $33 million offer sheet on Thursday with Dallas, according to sources. The Blazers matched the offer an hour later to keep the 26-year-old.
Thybulle averaged 7.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in his 22 games last season. Known as one of the best wing defenders, he was on the All-Defensive Second Team in 2021 and 2022.
He was traded to the Blazers from the Philadelphia 76ers in February. He spent almost four seasons with the 76ers.
Last week, the Blazers also retained Jerami Grant and signed a $160 million, five-year contract with him. They are still uncertain about Damian Lillard's potential trade who plans to exit Portland as their most successful player.
