Raptors convert C Orlando Robinson, sign G Jared Rhoden to two-way

Orlandon Robinson's efforts have been rewarded.

The Toronto Raptors have converted the centre to a standard NBA contract for the remainder of the season, the team announced on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old first joined the Raptors in mid-January, signing back-to-back 10-day deals before he was signed to a two-way deal after Jamison Battle was converted.

Robinson has averaged 5.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists through 17 games with Toronto. He holds career averages of 3.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 11.3 minutes through 93 games between the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings and Raptors.

In a corresponding move, guard Jared Rhoden has been signed to a two-way deal to fill Robinson's now-vacant slot.

The 25-year-old previously signed a 10-day contract with Toronto on Feb. 19.

Rhoden has spent most of his time in the G League this season, making 13 regular-season appearances with the Raptors 905. He averaged 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists during that span. Rhoden ranks third on the team for minutes, scoring, rebounding and defensive rating.

The Raptors have been fans of the undrafted guard for quite some time, previously bringing him into training camp on an Exhibit 10 contract. They then waived Rhoden, intending to feature him on the 905 roster, but he was quickly claimed by the Charlotte Hornets on a two-way deal. Once waived at the end of November, the Raptors swiftly picked up Rhoden and added him to the 905 roster.

Rhoden now joins A.J. Lawson and Ulrich Chomche as Toronto's three two-way players. According to Sportsnet's Blake Murphy, he can potentially play in 12 NBA games through the remainder of the season before reaching the 50-game threshold for two-way players.

The Raptors now have one open roster spot remaining.
