The Sacramento Kings have locked up star big man Domantas Sabonis for another five seasons with a contract extension worth a total of $217 million, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Sabonis had one year remaining on his current deal. Wojnarowski reports Sabonis and the Kings will now renegotiate his 2023-24 deal and add four more seasons on top.
The 27-year-old centre helped the Kings return to the NBA playoffs last season and snap a 16-year post-season drought, which was the longest active dry spell among teams in the NBA, NFL, NHL and Major League Baseball at the time.
Sabonis, a three-time NBA All-Star, averaged a double-double for the Kings in 2022-23, putting up 19.1 points and 12.3 rebounds per contest.
