The San Antonio Spurs have agreed to terms on a two-year, $35 million contract extension for centre Zach Collins, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Collins, 25, was signed by the Spurs as a free agent in 2021 to a three-year, $22 million contract. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season. Instead, the Spurs keep the breakout player under team control through the 2025-26 season.
The former Gonzaga stand-out was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers in 2017. He didn't find much success in the Pacific Northwest, averaging 5.7 points and 4.0 rebounds and dealt with injuries for much of his time there, playing only 11 games in his third year and missing his entire fourth year with an ankle injury.
Since joining the Spurs, Collins has turned into a solid roleplayer, finishing with a career-high 11.6 points and 6.4 rebounds last season while playing in 63 games.
While playing the five alongside phenom Victor Wembanyama in the pre-season, Collins has averaged 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists through four preseason games.
