The Phoenix Suns' big three will be just a big two on Tuesday, as Bradley Beal has been ruled out for the team's season opener against the Golden State Warriors, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported.
A lingering back issue will keep Beal out, but Charania reports the team is optimistic about his progress. The team is also expected to take a "cautious approach" with his injury.
Beal joined superstars Kevin Durant and Devin Booker on the Suns when the team acquired the three-time All-Star in a blockbuster three-way trade with the Washington Wizards and Indiana Pacers this off-season.
The 30-year-old guard averaged 23.2 points and 5.4 assists in 50 games for the Wizards last season. He has been one of the premier scoring guards in the NBA over the past 10 seasons, including scoring over 30 points per game in both 2019-20 and 2020-21.
Phoenix finished fourth in the Western Conference last season with a 45-37 record before they were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the conference semifinals.
