Phoenix Suns superstar Devin Booker is unlikely to play in Game 3 or 4 of his team's first-round series against the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, though the right hamstring injury he is dealing with is believed to be mild and further tests are still ongoing.
Booker had been in the midst of another impressive post-season performance on Tuesday in Game 2 against the Pelicans, scoring 31 points in just 25 minutes. But, in the third quarter, Booker left the game with what Suns coach Monty Williams later revealed was a hamstring issue.
The Suns entered the playoffs after a dominant regular season in which they won 64 games and secured the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Without Booker, they ended up dropping Game 2, 125-114, and are now tied in their best-of-seven series with New Orleans at one game apiece.
Williams noted that Booker would undergo further testing to determine the extent of the injury. According to Wojnarowski, those tests have so far indicated that the strain is "mild" and the all-star guard is not being ruled out for the rest of the series.
"We've played without Chris [Paul] and Book before," Williams said after Game 2. "If we have to play without Book, next man up. We've done that all year long."
