The Phoenix Suns plan to sign former Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas for the remainder of the 2023-24 season, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Monday.
Thomas just completed two 10-day contracts with the Suns, and now will join the team full time. Over the two contracts, the veteran guard appeared in four games and averaged 1.3 points per game.
Prior to joining the Suns, the 35-year-old hadn't played in the NBA since 2022 but recently appeared in four games with the Salt Lake City Stars in the NBA G League, averaging 32.5 points per game.
Thomas has a career scoring average of 17.7 points in 550 career games with the Kings, Suns, Celtics, Cavaliers, Lakers, Nuggets, Wizards, Pelicans, Mavericks and Hornets.
The Suns are sixth in the Western Conference, clinging to the final playoff spot outside the NBA's play-in tournament.
