The Phoenix Suns are signing veteran guard Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Thomas, a two-time all-star, had been playing with the Salt Lake City Stars, a G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz. In the four games he suited up for them, he averaged 32.5 points.
The 35-year-old has been out of the NBA for the better part of the last three years. He last suited up for a team in the 2021-22 season while with the Charlotte Hornets. He played 22 games that season, averaging 8.4 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists between games with the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Hornets.
An 11-year veteran, Thomas appeared in two all-star games in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, both while with the Boston Celtics.
In the latter year, the diminutive guard averaged 28.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists while shooting 46.3 per cent from the field and 37.9 per cent from three-point range. He finished fifth in MVP voting and earned a spot on the All-NBA second team.
He now rejoins the Suns, the team he played for in the 2014-15 season before being traded to the Celtics.
Phoenix currently has a 39-28 record, good for seventh in the Western Conference.
