Indiana Pacers centre Daniel Theis has agreed to a contract buyout with the Indiana Pacers with the intention of signing with the Los Angeles Clippers, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday.
If the veteran clears waivers and heads west to join the Clippers, he'll be a welcome addition to a team in need of a backup centre. Los Angeles recently lost the services of its secondary big Mason Plumlee, as he suffered an MCL sprain and is expected to miss several weeks.
Theis had made his way to the Pacers from the Boston Celtics by way of a trade that centred around Malcolm Brogdon two seasons ago. Since then, the six-foot-eight big has played in just eight games with Indiana and has gotten on the floor only once this season, for eight minutes of floor time.
The German should see more opportunities with Los Angeles as the Clippers will need him to fill in for Plumlee's 17 minutes a night.
Theis has averaged 7.5 points and 4.9 rebounds a game in just under 20 minutes of action with four teams during his seven-year NBA career.
