The Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson won’t return to game action until after Christmas, Anthony Slater and Shams Charania of The Athletic report.
Thompson has been working his way back from a torn right Achilles tendon which he had surgery for last November following a season sidelined after having the ACL in his left knee repaired. The 31-year-old last played in the 2019 NBA Finals.
The Warriors do not expect Thompson to make his season debut for their home games on Dec. 20 or 23 as well as their Christmas Day matchup against the Phoenix Suns. This would mean the earliest potential return day for Thompson would come on Dec. 28 against the Denver Nuggets.
Both Thompson and James Wiseman, who had surgery on a torn meniscus in April, were recalled from Santa Cruz in the G-League where they have been practising after getting cleared by doctors.
The Warriors have been thriving without Thompson going an NBA-best 23-5 so far this season.
