Dwight Howard could be on his way to returning to the NBA.
Howard, who played overseas in Taiwan last season, will be meeting with the Golden State Warriors next week, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Friday.
The Warriors are looking to sign a reserve veteran big man, according to Charania, and the eight-time all-star fits the bill.
The 37-year-old Howard has played 18 seasons in the NBA after he was drafted first overall by the Orlando Magic in 2004. He captured the NBA championship during his second stint with the Lakers in 2020 and is also a five-time All-NBA first team honouree and three-time NBA defensive player of the year award winner.
Howard has averaged 15.7 points and 11.8 rebounds over the course of 1,242 games with the Magic, Lakers, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers.
He averaged 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds in his third stint with the Lakers during the 2021-22 season.
Howard signed with the Taoyuan Leopards of the T1 League in Taiwan in November of 2022. He led the league in rebounds and was named to the all-T1 League first team as well as winning the Most Valuable Import award.
