Scottie Barnes was sporting a new look at Toronto Raptors practice on Thursday, donning a protective mask while participating in the shootaround with the team.
However, he was not cleared for contact and will still be re-evaluated by doctors in a week, according to Sportsnet's Michael Grange.
Barnes, 23, suffered an orbital fracture in a game against the Denver Nuggets on Oct. 28, and has missed the team's last eight games. He saw a specialist last week, which determined that he would not need surgery to recover from the injury.
However, there is still no timeline for his return, with the team stating that his status will be updated accordingly.
The former fourth overall pick by Toronto in 2021 has continued to be a do-it-all player for the team this season, averaging 19.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, six assists and two steals through his four appearances.
Elsewhere at Raptors practice, guard Immanuel Quickley, who suffered a partially torn UCL in his left elbow, put up shots at practice but was wearing a brace and only used his right hand. He was not cleared for contract and the team did not provide an update on his timeline.
The team's other injured players — Kelly Olynyk (back), Bruce Brown (knee) and Ja'Kobe Walter (shoulder) — all participated in drills at practice but were also not cleared for contact. However, they're set to undergo re-evaluations on their injuries next week.
