Sources: Rumours of Marc Gasol returning to Barcelona are premature

NBA insider Michael Grange joins SN Central to discuss the rumours that Marc Gasol is planning to return to play in Spain, saying he thinks he'll explore all his NBA options, in Toronto or elsewhere first.

Rumours of centre Marc Gasol returning to Spain to play for Barcelona are premature, Sportsnet's Michael Grange has learned.

A report surfaced on Wednesday stating that Gasol had committed to his hometown club. Barcelona coach Sarunas Jasikevicius denied the report, saying the team had not yet talked to Gasol.

Gasol joined the Toronto Raptors at the 2019 trade deadline and was instrumental in helping the club win its first NBA championship in franchise history. He averaged 8.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 70 games with the Raptors over two seasons.

The 35-year-old has spent 11 years in the NBA, earning three all-star nods and winning the 2012-13 Defensive Player of the Year award.
