In the fallout of the Phoenix Suns' Game 4 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, Chris Paul took to Twitter accusing fans of putting their hands on members of his family.
"Wanna fine players for saying stuff to the fans but the fans can put they hands on our families….f--- that!!" he wrote.
According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Mavericks fans put their hands on Paul's mother and pushed his wife, with his kids there to witness it.
"They felt very unsafe," a source told McMenamin, who later wrote that Paul's wife was followed up the aisle when she left her seat.
Shortly after Paul's Tweet, the Mavericks released a statement acknowledging the incident between "a fan" and Paul's family and denouncing the fan's behaviour.
“The Dallas Mavericks are aware of an incident between a fan and the family of Chris Paul. It was unacceptable behavior and will not be tolerated. The Mavericks, along with American Airlines Center, swiftly removed the fan from today’s game,” said the Mavericks.
Videos shared on social media showed security at American Airlines Center escorting a young Mavericks fan located near the Suns bench out of the arena, with Paul shouting "I see you," toward him.
Paul was also captured on camera speaking to security, appearing to repeatedly say "he put his hands on my mom."
It's just the latest fan incident to happen this series, as Mavericks star Luka Doncic had to be held back from confronting a Suns fan when leaving the court during Game 2 in Phoenix.
Paul fouled out and scored just five points in 23 minutes on Sunday as Dallas tied the series 2-2. Game 5 takes place on Tuesday in Phoenix.
