Kevin Durant can't seem to catch a break with his injury luck this season.
The Phoenix Suns superstar is set to miss at least a week after suffering an ankle sprain in Tuesday's 104-93 win over the San Antonio Spurs, the team announced Wednesday.
The injury occurred with four minutes left in the second quarter. As Durant was going for a drive, he stepped on Spurs forward Julian Champagnie's foot and immediately went to the ground. He grabbed at his left ankle after the play.
He took his free throws but exited the game soon after, returning to the team's locker room.
Durant finished the outing with 13 points, four rebounds and two assists in 16 minutes.
The 36-year-old has had a trying season with his health. He missed seven games in November while dealing with a calf strain, ultimately returning on Nov. 26.
In the 13 games he has played, the former MVP has enjoyed an efficient and productive year, averaging 25.8 points on 53.6 per cent from the field and 44.9 per cent from three-point range, while adding 6.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 35.7 minutes per night.
Despite starting the season strong, the Suns have struggled without Durant in the lineup, losing six of the seven games he missed. They're currently 12-8 and sit sixth in the Western Conference.
