After waiving centre Bruno Fernando this morning, the Toronto Raptors may be welcoming a big man back into the organization.
Sportsnet's Blake Murphy reported on Tuesday that Branden Carlson was released by the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Raptors 905 own Carlson's G League rights.
The seven-foot centre was initially signed to a two-way contract by the Raptors as an undrafted free agent, but was waived by Toronto in favour of Fernando, before being resigned by the 905 as an affiliate player. He was later signed to standard NBA contract by the Thunder.
Carlson, 25, played a total of 25 minutes in seven games with the Thunder, averaging 0.6 points and 1.3 rebounds. He scored 9.8 points per game along with 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks for the Raptors during Las Vegas Summer League play.
The South Jordan, Utah, native is proficient as both a three-point shooter and a rim protector, shooting 35.4 per cent from distance in college while finishing as the all-time leader in blocks for the Utah Utes.
