Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns has entered health and safety protocols and will be out of the lineup against the Utah Jazz Thursday.
Towns is one of seven players unavailable for the Timberwolves due to protocols, including forward Anthony Edwards and guard Patrick Beverly.
Towns missed time last season after contracting COVID-19 and has lost multiple family members to the virus, including his mother Jackie. He has donated to charities battling the coronavirus and spoken up about the role everyone can play in protecting communities.
“This disease needs not to be taken lightly,” Towns said shortly after his mother’s passing. “Please protect your families, your loved ones, your friends, yourself. Practice social distancing. Please don’t be in places with a lot of people.”
The 26-year0old is averaging 24.5 and 9.1 rebounds in 30 games this season.
