The Golden State Warriors are preparing to bring back forward Andrew Wiggins in time for game 1 against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday according to head coach Steve Kerr.
Andrew Wiggins, who has been out and away from the team since Feb. 13 due to personal matters, rejoined the team in the Bay Area early last week.
He's been working out with the Warriors to get back into playing shape. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Wiggins is likely to come off the bench in his first game back and will be limited to 20-to-25 minutes.
"On one hand, Wiggs is one of those guys who doesn't seem to fall out of shape," Kerr said on Thursday. "On the other hand he hasn't played in 10 weeks."
The Vaughn, Ont. native was averaging 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game before his absence and was a key cog of the Warriors' defence.
During the team's championship run last season, Wiggins averaged 16.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while defending the opposing team's best player on a night-to-night basis.
The Golden State Warriors finished this season as the sixth-seed in the Western Conference with a record of 44-38.
They're set to take on the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the playoffs with game 1 scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
