The New Orleans Pelicans announced on Thursday that power forward Zion Williamson has officially been fully cleared in his return to play progression.
According to the team, a recent imaging of Williamson's fifth right metatarsal showed continued signs of improvement.
Williamson initially suffered the broken foot during workouts last summer leading up to the 2021-2022 NBA season, and ultimately did not play a single game.
The announcement means that the forward will now be unrestricted in his preparation for the upcoming 2022-2023 season.
The 21-year-old has played in 85 games since being drafted first overall back in 2019 and with his four-year rookie contract ending in 2023, Williamson is eligible this summer for an extension.
