Barrett exits Raptors’ pre-season win vs. Wizards with shoulder injury

RJ Barrett‘s night ended early as he exited the Toronto Raptors‘ pre-season opening win against the Washington Wizards on Sunday with a shoulder injury.

The 24-year-old seemingly got banged up towards the end of the second quarter of the Raptors 125-98 victory after trying to fight through a screen set by Jonas Valanciunas.

Barrett did not return for the second half and according to the broadcast, it was due to a right shoulder contusion.

The Toronto native was putting together an impressive performance before the injury as he left with a game-high 17 points on 3-of-4 shooting from distance to go with two assists and two rebounds in 14 minutes of action.

Meanwhile, guard Davion Mitchell, who the Raptors acquired in the off-season from the Sacramento Kings, appeared to tweak his calf on a drive early in the third, but after a brief trip to the locker room, he did return to the game.

Mitchell, 26, would end the game with four points and five assists while finishing as a plus-22 through his 20 minutes of play.

The Raptors continue the pre-season on Sunday, once again taking on the Wizards.
