Former Toronto Raptor Lou Williams has announced his retirement from the NBA, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Williams, 36, played 17 seasons in the league, including one with Toronto from 2014-15 when he won Sixth Man of the Year Award. That was the first time the award had been won by a member of the Raptors. Williams would go on to win it twice more, in 2018 and 2019.
The Memphis-born guard played with six NBA teams during his time in the league: Philadelphia, Atlanta, Toronto, L.A. Lakers, Houston, and L.A. Clippers. He played twice in Atlanta, the city where he moved when he was 11, closing out his career there in 2021-22. He was without a team this past season.
Williams wraps up his career averaging 13.9 points per game, with a .419 field-goal percentage and .351 three-point percentage.
