After one of his best performances as a New York Knick, OG Anunoby has experienced a setback.
The former Toronto Raptor has been ruled out for Game 3 of a second-round series against the Indiana Pacers on Friday because of a left hamstring strain, the team announced Thursday.
Anunoby came out of Game 2 on Wednesday at the 3:47 mark of the third quarter after running the fastbreak. He appeared to come up awkwardly after going for a lay-up and instead opted to toss the ball off the backboard. He wound up on the baseline, took some time to get up and went back to the team’s locker room.
Anunoby was in the midst of the best post-season game of his career, as he scored 28 points in 27 minutes on 10-for-19 shooting from the field and four-for-seven shooting from three-point range. He also had four rebounds, three assists and a block.
His 28 points were also the most he’s had as a Knick.
New York has a 25-5 record when Anunoby has a spot in the lineup, with the Knicks clearly benefiting from his play at both ends of the court.
Game 3 is Friday in Indianapolis. The Knicks lead the series 2-0.
