NBA Roundup: Celtics cruise past Knicks for eighth straight win

NEW YORK (AP) — Jaylen Brown scored 30 points, Kristaps Porzingis had 22 and the NBA-leading Boston Celtics beat the New York Knicks 116-102 on Saturday night for their eighth consecutive victory.

Jayson Tatum had 19 points and Derrick White added 13 to help the Celtics sweep the four-game season series. They have won 10 of their last 11.

Jalen Brunson had 34 points for New York.

DETROIT (AP) — Paolo Banchero broke a tie with a three-point play with 0.8 seconds left and finished with 15 points in Orlando’s victory over NBA-worst Detroit.

Orlando has won three straight and eight of its last 10.

Cade Cunningham had a tying layup with 12.4 seconds to go and, with a chance to send the game to overtime, he hit the rim on 70-plus-foot shot at the buzzer. Cunningham had 26 points for the Pistons.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Anthony Edwards scored 11 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter and Minnesota beat Brooklyn to regain sole possession of the Western Conference lead.

Karl-Anthony Towns added 28 points to help Minnesota rebound from a loss to Milwaukee on Friday night. The Timberwolves moved a half-game ahead of idle Oklahoma City.

Cam Thomas led Brooklyn with 18 points.
