The Toronto Raptors exploded for 87 first-half points Saturday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers to set a new franchise record.

Gary Trent Jr. led the way with 25 points while shooting five-for-six from three-point range, followed by OG Anunoby with 15 and DeAndre’ Bembry with 11. As a team, the Raptors shot 71 per cent from the field in the first half and they led by as many as 38 points.

The previous record of 79 points had been reached twice in franchise history. The first time came Jan. 11, 1997 against the New Jersey Nets while the second happened March 21, 2018 against the Cavaliers. While the Raptors were able to defeat the Nets 123-106 back in 1997, LeBron James and the Cavaliers rallied to win 132-129 in 2018.
