Raptors guard Immanuel Quickley not expected to play in pre-season finale

It appears Toronto Raptors point guard Immanuel Quickley won’t be able to play in the team’s pre-season finale, Sportsnet’s Michael Grange reported Thursday.

Quickley has been day-to-day with a sprained thumb. He appeared in the Raptors’ shootaround Tuesday but was kept out of the lineup against the Boston Celtics.

The 25-year-old signed a five-year, $175-million deal with the Raptors during the off-season. He was acquired in a blockbuster deal with the New York Knicks last season.

Quickley averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game while shooting 42.2 per cent overall and 39.5 per cent on 3-pointers with the Raptors, starting all 38 games he played.

Toronto opens its regular season schedule against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 23.
