The Toronto Raptors have locked down their point guard of the future.
Toronto announced Monday that it has officially re-signed Immanuel Quickley to a multi-year contract.
Per team policy, the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, The Athletic‘s Sham Charania reported on June 28 that the deal is worth five years and $175 million.
“Immanuel embodies so many things that are important to our team. He’s incredible – smart, athletic, driven. He works so hard. He loves the game of basketball. And ultimately? He wants to win and he will be a Raptor for years to come,” said Raptors president Masai Ujiri in a release by the team. “We are very high on I.Q. – our point guard of the future.”
Quickley was acquired from the Knicks as part of the mid-season trade that sent OG Anunoby to New York.
Following the trade, the 25-year-old guard averaged 18.6 points and 6.8 assists over 38 games while shooting 42.2 per cent from the field and 39.5 per cent from three.
A Havre de Grace, Maryland, native, Quickley was initially selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2020 draft.
He has played in four NBA seasons, averaging 13.7 points, 3.5 assists and 3.4 rebounds through 291 career games. He was a finalist for the 2022-23 Sixth Man of the Year Award and a member of the 2020-21 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
The Raptors also officially announced their multi-year extension with star forward Scottie Barnes on Monday.
