The Toronto Raptors have officially signed free-agent forward Sam Dekker, the team announced Tuesday.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but The Athletic‘s Blake Murphy reports the deal is a modest partial guarantee, essentially giving the 27-year-old a chance to compete for a spot on the roster.
Dekker — a native of Sheboygan, Wis. — spent the past two years with Russia’s PBC Lokomotiv Kuban and Turkey’s Türk Telekom.
Prior to his time abroad, the 18th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft logged four seasons in the NBA with the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards.
He holds career averages of 5.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 15.1 minutes in 200 NBA appearances.
The signing is a controversial one as detailed by Sportsnet‘s Steven Loung last week, with Dekker previously coming under fire for a since-deleted tweet about “white pride” and for possibly being a supporter of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
