Canadian Nickeil Alexander-Walker is re-signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves, agreeing to a two-year deal with the club, The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski reports.
The Toronto native has bounced around the NBA since being picked 17th overall by the Brooklyn Nets in 2019.
The Atlanta Hawks traded for Alexander-Walker’s rights after the draft and then immediately traded him to the New Orleans Pelicans.
At the trade deadline in 2022, he was sent from the Pelicans to the Utah Jazz. In February 2023, he was sent to Minnesota in part of the deal that brought Mike Conley to Minnesota from the Jazz and sent D’Angelo Russell from the Timberwolves to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Alexander-Walker carved out a role in Minnesota, averaging 5.9 points in 23 games with the club. He averaged 8.4 points per game in the playoffs.
The Timberwolves did not sign Alexander-Walker to a qualifying offer, but elected to bring him back in free agency.
