Report: Celtics re-sign C Luke Kornet to one-year deal

The reigning champs are holding onto their depth pieces.

The Boston Celtics have opted to bring back depth centre Luke Kornet, signing him to a one-year deal, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday.

The financial details of the deal were not reported.

Kornet, 28, was a steady bench presence for Boston this season, averaging 5.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 15.6 minutes per game. He appeared in 63 games for the Celtics, starting in seven.

Boston also picked up guard Sam Hauser’s $2.1 million team option earlier this week, keeping two of their key bench pieces in town. The team is reportedly looking to sign Hauser to a longer-term contract when the extension negotiation window opens on July 9.
