One of the best veteran guards and mentors in the NBA is set to help out the league’s brightest young star.
Chris Paul is set to join the San Antonio Spurs to team up with Victor Wembanyama, TNT’s Chris Haynes reported Sunday.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that it’s a one-year deal worth $11 million with incentives.
Paul, 39, was waived by the Golden State Warriors earlier on Sunday to make sure his $30 million salary for the 2024-25 season would not be guaranteed.
He’ll now head back to Texas, where he once played alongside James Harden on the Houston Rockets.
The 19-year NBA vet had his worst season in the league last year coming off the bench for the Warriors, averaging a career-low in points (9.2) while grabbing only 3.9 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game on 26.4 minutes a night.
