Report: Knicks sign G Cam Payne to a one-year, $3.1M contract

The Knicks’ off-season spending spree continues.

New York signed veteran guard Cam Payne to a one-year, $3.1 million contract to bolster their backcourt depth off the bench, TNT’s Chris Haynes reported Monday.

Payne, 29, has bounced around over the past two seasons, spending time with the Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers. Overall, the Knicks will be his seventh team since entering the league in 2015.

Last season he averaged 7.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 16.7 minutes per game split between the Bucks and 76ers, to whom he was traded at the deadline.

The Memphis, Tenn., native has some solid playoff experience after playing with the Suns during their Finals run in 2021.

The Knicks have had a busy off-season, trading for Mikal Bridges, re-signing OG Anunoby and handing face of the franchise Jalen Brunson a team-friendly contract extension.
