Report: Nuggets working toward max extension with Canada’s Jamal Murray

Jamal Murray is set to get his payday.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Denver Nuggets and Murray are working towards a four-year, $209-million maximum contract extension this off-season.

The Nuggets will present Murray with the deal this summer, and the Kitchener, Ont. native is expected to agree, per Charania.

Murray, 27, helped Denver to an NBA title in 2022-23 and continued to raise his game in the post-season in 2023-24, nailing a pair of game-winners and a spectacular half-court buzzer-beater, in a first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The six-foot-four guard averaged 21.2 points, 6.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds over 59 regular-season games for the Nuggets last season.

Originally picked seventh overall in the 2016 draft, Murray has spent his entire career in Denver.

Murray is expected to suit up for Canada at the Paris Olympics this summer.
