Report: Pelicans promote WNBA Hall of Famer Swin Cash to senior front office role

The New Orleans Pelicans are promoting Hall of Famer and WNBA legend Swin Cash to senior vice president of basketball operations, according to the Athletic’s Shams Charania on Tuesday.

Cash formerly held the title of vice president of basketball operations and team development.

The three-time WNBA champion joined New Orleans in 2019 and will now hold one of the highest-ranking positions of any woman in an NBA front office.

Along with her three professional titles, Cash also won two NCAA championships with UConn and two Olympic gold medals for Team USA. The member of both the 20th and 25th all-WNBA teams officially retired in 2016 and was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.

After her 15-year WNBA career came to an end and before she joined the Pelicans, Cash held the title of director of franchise development with the New York Liberty in 2017 and also spent time working as an analyst for NBA TV.

The news of her promotion comes on the same day New Orleans officially announced Bryson Graham as the team’s new general manager. Graham replaces Trajan Langdon, who left this off-season to take over as the Detroit Pistons president of basketball operations.
