The Detroit Pistons have found their Monty Williams replacement.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pistons are hiring J.B. Bickerstaff on a five-year contract to be their next head coach.

Bickerstaff, 45, has spent the last five seasons as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, racking up 170 wins while guiding the team to two straight playoff appearances.

In 2023-24, the Cavaliers finished fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 48-34 record and advanced to the conference semifinals before being eliminated by the Boston Celtics.

Bicketstaff had previously served as the head coach of the Houston Rockets in 2015-16 and the Memphis Grizzlies in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

He owns a career 55-290 recorded and has coached in the post-season three times.

The Pistons were looking for a new head coach after firing Williams just one season after handing him a six-year $78.5 million contract.
