Report: Pistons part ways with general manager Troy Weaver

After the Detroit Pistons hired Trajan Langdon to be their president of basketball operations last week, the team and general manager Troy Weaver have decided to part ways, according to a report by The Athletic‘s Shams Charania and James L. Edwards III.

Charania and Edwards III also reported that the Pistons offered Weaver a scouting role to remain with the organization, however, he declined the position.

Weaver, who previously served as an assistant general manager with the Oklahoma City Thunder, took over as the GM in Detroit in 2020 and was charged with leading the organization’s rebuild.

The Pistons finished the 2023-24 season with an NBA-worst 14-68 record. Through four seasons under Weaver, they have a 74-244 record.

Detroit is reportedly in “serious talks” with New Orleans Pelicans VP of basketball administration, Michael Blackstone, to fill the role under Langdon.
