Report: Raptors see Barnes as ‘untouchable,’ could move Siakam or Anunoby

The Toronto Raptors see Scottie Barnes as their building block of the future.

According to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania, sources have told him the Raptors see Barnes as an “untouchable” asset.

The same can’t be said about Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, however.

Charania reported that after the Raptors’ 9-13 start, teams around the league now believe that Toronto could trade Siakam or Anunoby before the Feb. 8 trade deadline.

According to Charania, the three most likely suitors for Siakam and Anunoby are the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers.

Siakam is in the final year of his four-year, $136.9-million deal.

Anunoby is also in the final year of his deal, and although he does have a $19.9-million player option for next season, he is expected to decline it and enter free agency.

Siakam leads the team in scoring, averaging 20.7 points per game which is just slightly ahead of Barnes’ 19.8 per game.

Anunoby, known primarily for his defensive ability, is averaging 14.8 points per game and shooting a team-best 38.8 per cent from three.
