Report: Raptors trade Dennis Schroder, Thaddeus Young to Nets for Spencer Dinwiddie

The Toronto Raptors are trading point guard Dennis Schroder and centre Thaddeus Young to the Brooklyn Nets for guard Spencer Dinwiddie, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday.

This will be the seventh team Schroder will play for in his NBA career. The 30-year-old veteran signed a two-year, $25 million fully-guaranteed contract with Toronto in the off-season after championing Germany to FIBA World Cup Gold in the summer, where he also won MVP.

Schroder has averaged 13.7 points, 6.1 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game, with shooting splits of 44.2 per cent from two and 35 per cent from three in 51 games for the Raptors.

The deal also sends veteran big man Young to Brooklyn for a second time in his career. The Raptors traded for the 35-year-old in 2022, and has played in over 100 games for the organization, including starting six games this year.

Toronto brings back Dinwiddie, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent in the off-season. In 48 games this season with the Nets, the 30-year-old has averaged 12.6 points, 6 assists and 3.3 rebounds on 39.1 per cent shooting from the field, and 32 per cent from three.
