Report: Raptors deal sharpshooter Matt Thomas to Jazz for future pick

The Toronto Raptors have traded three-point specialist Matt Thomas to the Utah Jazz in exchange for a future second-round draft pick, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Thomas has spent the past two seasons with the Raptors after joining the club from Spain’s Liga ACB. Despite his prowess from beyond the arc, he struggled to carve out consistent minutes in the Raptors’ rotation.

The 26-year-old is averaging 2.7 points per game on 41.5 per cent three-point shooting this season. He has appeared in 26 contests, logging just over seven minutes per night.

Utah owns the best winning percentage in the NBA, and Thomas adds wing depth to a talented lineup.

Toronto also traded guard Norman Powell to the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday in advance of the league’s trade deadline.
