The Houston Rockets have signed Canadian swingman Dillon Brooks to a four-year, $80-million contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Brooks joins former Toronto Raptors star Fred VanVleet in Houston after the point guard agreed to a three-year deal with the Rockets on Friday.
Brooks had spent his entire six-year career with the Memphis Grizzlies, but was reportedly informed the team wouldn’t offer him a contract upon his free agency after making waves in a first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Brooks taunted LeBron James when speaking to the media following Game 2 of the series, saying the small forward was “old”, and was later assessed a flagrant 2 foul and was ejected from Game 3 after striking the NBA’s all-time points leader in the groin.
Brooks averaged 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists, shooting 39.6 per cent from the floor and 32.6 per cent from beyond the arc during the 2022-23 season.
