Spurs select Canadian Leonard Miller 33rd overall, trade him to Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves will end up with Toronto’s Leonard Miller after the San Antonio Spurs selected him 33rd overall in the second round and then traded him at the NBA Draft on Thursday

The six-foot-eight wing played for the G League Ignite this season, averaging 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds while shooting 55 per cent from the field. He possesses a massive seven-foot-two wingspan and eight-foot-ten standing reach.

He declared for the NBA Draft last season but withdrew his name from contention after his workouts and meetings with teams, choosing to join the G League Ignite alongside fellow draftee Scoot Henderson.

Miller was coming off an impressive season of high school hoops with Fort Erie Prep of the OSBA (Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association), but nobody knew how transferable his skill set would be against bigger and older opponents in the G League, where Miller did not disappoint.

Miller has to work on his three-point shooting (32.7 per cent) and his defensive awareness if he is going to reach his full potential in the NBA.
