Xaivian Lee has gone where no Princeton men's basketball player has gone before.
The Toronto point guard became the first Princeton player to record a triple-double in team history on Tuesday night in the Tigers' game against the Saint Joseph's Hawks.
A pass to Caden Pierce for an and-one with 1:16 left gave Lee his 10th assist. He finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in Princeton's 77-69 road win.
“He’s just unique. There’s no one else really (like him) in college basketball,” Saint Joseph's coach Billy Lange said afterward, per Kyle Franko of the Trentonian. “He’s got like the moxie of Devin Booker. There just aren’t many guys who I’ve gone against who are like him.”
Edilson J. Silva of BasketballBuzz.ca reported it was the first triple-double by a Canadian against NCAA Division I competition since current Toronto Raptor RJ Barrett accomplished the feat with Duke in 2019.
Lee, a six-foot-four junior, has popped up on some NBA Draft boards as a potential late pick.
The Canadian entered play on Tuesday averaging 14.8 points, 5.0 assists and 4.7 rebounds for the Ivy League school.
The Tigers (7-3) are considered a strong contender to win their conference and advance to March Madness.
