San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shannahan revealed Monday that star running back Christian McCaffrey has Achilles tendonitis in both legs.
McCaffrey is currently on the injured reserve and hasn’t played in a game this season.
The All-Pro running back went to Germany last week to consult with a specialist about his injury. There is still no clear timetable for his return.
McCaffrey led the NFL last season with 2,023 yards from scrimmage and was tied for the league lead with 21 touchdowns, winning AP Offensive Player of the Year.
The 49ers hold a 2-2 record so far in the 2024 season and are coming off a 30-13 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday.
