It looks like Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown is returning to the nice list this Christmas.
After being fined $5,481 for jumping into the Salvation Army kettle in AT&T Stadium after scoring a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14, the Canadian said Tuesday his appeal for rescindment has been accepted.
Brown, from London, Ont., was originally punished for unsportsmanlike conduct (i.e. illegal celebrations and/or vulgar acts) after his 19-yard touchdown reception helped the Bengals top the Cowboys 27-20 on Dec. 9. The play was initially ruled out of bounds before being overturned on review.
At the time, the 24-year-old said he didn't think there were rules around jumping into the kettle, as he's seen other players do it before him.
"I've seen everybody do it since I was a kid, so I'm like, 'screw it, I'm gonna do it," Brown said.
Notably, Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott jumped into a Salvation Army kettle in 2016, but wasn't fined for his actions.
This is the second time a Bengals player has won a fine appeal during the 2024-25 NFL season.
In Week 2, wide receiver Andrei Iosivas was fined $5,305 for a violent gesture, where he imitated shooting a bow and arrow after scoring a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Iosivas won his appeal in early October.
