Brady, Gronkowski set NFL post-season record for touchdowns by a duo

Tom Brady finds an open Rob Gronkowski, who runs it into the end zone for the first touchdown of Super Bowl LV.

An old New England Patriots connection found each other once more in the Super Bowl -- and made history in the process.

Tom Brady lobbed an eight-yard pass to Rob Gronkowski in the first quarter on Sunday night for a touchdown. The play, which gave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a 7-3 lead at the time, pushed the Brady-Gronkowski duo into sole possession of first place on the NFL's all-time list for most post-season touchdowns by any quarterback-receiver combination.

Their new total -- 13 initially, which grew to 14 after they connected on a second touchdown in the first half -- eclipses second-place Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, who had 12.

The play also marked the first time in Brady's 10 Super Bowl appearances that his team scored a touchdown in the first quarter.
