After being informed that a player’s test results came back positive for COVID-19, the Cleveland Browns have closed their facility and delayed the team’s flight to New Jersey while contract tracing is being completed.
The Browns said in a statement that they intend to hold meetings remotely and consult with the NFL and medical experts on appropriate next steps.
In accordance with league policy, the player’s name was not disclosed.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Browns will be without
Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins and Donovan People-Jones as they have been deemed high-risk close contacts and are expected to be placed on the reserve/COVID list.
Cleveland is scheduled to play next against the New York Jets on Sunday. At this time, there are no updates regarding whether that game will be played or not.
