Chiefs' Travis Kelce to 'take some time' to determine if he will return

Just three days removed from a Super Bowl letdown, Travis Kelce isn't about to make big decisions about his career.

The Kansas City Chiefs star tight end, speaking Wednesday on the New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, left the door open to returning to the field in 2025 or retiring.

"I’m gonna take some time to figure it out," Kelce said, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. "And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, that it’s gonna be a wholehearted decision and I’m not half-assing it, and I’m fully here for them.

"I think I can play, it’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.”

Kelce, 35, was still productive this year, finishing with 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season and adding 13 catches for 175 yards and a touchdown in three playoff games.

But the regular-season yardage was the lowest total for Kelce since he became a full-time player in 2014.

The 10-time Pro Bowler has one year left on his contract with the Chiefs, the only team he has played for in the NFL.

The Chiefs missed a chance to win a record Super Bowl in a row as they lost 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles.

It wasn't a particular fun evening for Kelce or his girlfriend Taylor Swift, who was booed when shown on the jumbotron by a predominantly pro-Philadelphia crowd.

"I wasn't the best leader that I could be in motivating my guys and keeping my guys calm, cool, collected," Kelce said.
